This service supports schools in ensuring the effective inclusion, achievement and progression of children and young people with cognition and learning needs.

  • Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD - including dyslexia) and
  • Moderate (or general) Learning Difficulties

Jo and Sandra support mainstream schools and other educational settings in Cornwall. You can download a list of the schools and the allocated adviser.

Schools and educational settings can request the involvement of the Service by completing the SEN Support Services Request for Involvement Form. There is also a parental consent form which must be signed before the advisors can visit. The eligibility criteria for each service is listed on the form.

The Cognition and Learning service offers:

  • Free core support comprising casework, assessment, advice and consultation
  • Traded work that focuses on training to enable schools to successfully include children and young people with cognition and learning needs.
  • Special events, e.g. our annual Cognition and Learning Conference
