Cornwall Council is consulting on its admission arrangements for community and voluntary-controlled schools for 2020/21.

Comments are invited on any aspect of the arrangements including the proposed changes which are explained below.

A change to the oversubscription criteria for a number of infant and primary schools to give greater priority to children that have a sibling already at the school is proposed, in response to feedback from schools.  This affects the following schools:

A reduction in the Published Admission Numbers for two primary schools (the number of pupils that they will admit up to in reception for 2020 entry) is proposed.  The reductions are to support more efficient class organisation and planning and are at the request of the schools, supported by the Local Authority.

  • St Ives Junior School - reduction from 70 to 66
  • St Neot CP School - reduction from 16 to 14

Following the consultation the Council will decide whether or not to go ahead with the proposed changes and will agree the final arrangements by the deadline of 28 February 2019. The final decision will be made by the Service Director, Education and Early Years Service. The arrangements will then be published on the Cornwall Council website.

Any information supplied as part of your consultation response will be used by Cornwall Council to collect and evaluate the views of stakeholders on the proposed changes. Please note that any information you supply will be stored securely. Your data will be used in accordance with the principles set out in the General Data Protection Regulation. This data will be used for statistical purposes but some data may be published. Any published data will be non-specific and individuals will not be identified. If you have provided us with your name and address we may also use this for corresponding with you in relation to the proposal. We will keep this information for a period of five years.
