CLO3B Paediatric first aid

Who is the course aimed at?

Those who care for babies and children in any professional setting including schools, day nurseries and pre-schools and childminders.

This two day (12 hour) course teaches first aid skills for responding to accidents and how to recognise and treat certain medical conditions in babies and children.

  • Managing an unconscious casualty
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • Management of a casualty who is choking
  • Management of shock
  • Secondary Survey
  • Control of bleeding
  • Injuries to bones, muscles and ligaments
  • Effects of hot and cold
  • Epilepsy
  • Burns
  • Poisons (inclusing insect bites and stings)
  • Eye injury
  • Meningitis
  • Diabetes
  • Asthma
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Casualty handling
  • Common medical emergencies
