CLO1 Winter moorland walking leader training

Who is the course aimed at?

Those wishing to lead groups on day walks in moorland areas in South West England and South Wales in winter conditions.  Suited to those who aspire to managing Duke of Edinburgh awards and Ten Tors training teams.

The syllabus is additional to that of the summer moorland walking leader syllabus, and is intended to build on the knowledge, skills and competence of leaders operating at that level.  Delegates will be given an individual action plan to help in further development as a walking leader.

  • Route planning and preparation
  • Leader and group equipment for winter walking
  • Navigation in poor visibility

Cost:  £215.00 (plus initial £30.00 SWMMLTS registration fee if not already registered)

Delegates must be registered on the South West scheme and will receive a logbook and course handbook.

Delegates are required to equip themselves for walking/leading in a winter moorland environment and for an overnight camp in an emergency.  Accommodation will be inside the centre for the Saturday night (bedding required).
