Purpose and Functions


  • To provide joined up strategic leadership for Cornwall, responding to nationally and locally significant issues and directing a coordinated response focused upon the best interests of Cornwall.
  • To provide strategic oversight of work themes within the Cornwall Deal and to report to the Monitoring Board as appropriate on matters relating to the Cornwall Deal.
  • To explore and consider best use of our collective resources to improve and transform services and opportunity in Cornwall.
  • To be a collective voice for Cornwall in lobbying and influencing national policy for the benefit of Cornwall.
  • To identify, coordinate and resource other specific work themes based on transformation activity and other strategic issues facing Cornwall.
  • Direct a realistic programme of closer working across Cornwall’s strategic organisations.
  • Receive updates on the implementation of the Cornwall Deal, provide oversight across work themes, ensure appropriate coordination and address organisational barriers to delivery.
  • Build reputation and confidence in Cornwall’s public, private and voluntary sectors and increase public interest and involvement.
  • Negotiate changes to services to deliver improvement and better outcomes for Cornwall. 

Meetings will take place every two-three months to consider a strategic programme monitoring report. Further single issue meetings will be organised in response to strategic priorities.
