The purpose of the review was to enable us to consider a request from the Parish Council to reduce the number of councillors on the parish council. This was from sixteen councillors to fourteen with effect from the 2013 elections.

Cornwall Council invited residents and interested organisations to submit their views on this issue.

We received responses in favour of the reduction and a response against the reduction.

Cornwall Council considered a report at the council meeting on 26 February 2013. We decided to approve a Community Governance Reorganisation Order. This was for the reduction of parish councillors for Mevagissey from 16 to 14.

The reduction took effect at the full parish council election in May 2013.
