Free health and safety course event for businesses

Businesses across Cornwall are taking part in a free, half-day event today to demystify health and safety regulations.

Cornwall Council (recently voted Local Authority of the year at the Regulatory Excellence awards) has teamed up with the HSE to help businesses simplify regulation and give them the tools they need to be able to manage regulation themselves.

The half day event at Penventon Hotel, Redruth, has the following themes:

  • Increasing your confidence in managing risks
  • Business-to-business rules above legal requirements.
  • Learn about Primary Authority and if it could help you.
  • Business Regulatory Support services.
  • Internal auditing and how one Cornish business makes this work for them.
  • Meeting a range of other business support organisations and learning how they can help you.

Participants will have the chance to ask questions and a pasty lunch included.

Rob Nolan, Cornwall’s Cabinet Member for environment and public protection, said: “Health and safety has a reputation for keeping small business owners awake at night.

“Come along to this free event and discover how the HSE and Cornwall Council can give you simplified guidance and how you can manage your health and safety.
