How we can help you

The Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall, his Vice Lord-Lieutenant and Deputies are keen to help all parts of the community wherever and whenever they can. There are many ways in which the Lieutenancy may be able to help.

  • Royal Visits - we can advise on how to request a Royal visit and assist with their arrangements when they happen

  • Royal Garden Parties - the Lord-Lieutenant welcomes suggestions for invitations to really deserving individuals at these annual events.
  • National Honours - we can advise on how to nominate someone for a national honour and offer advice on the completion of the forms .

  • Queen's Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS)  - we strongly encourage nominations of deserving voluntary groups for this award and are happy to offer advice to those considering a nomination. 

  • Lieutenancy Visits - we are happy to arrange for a visit by the Lord-Lieutenant or one of his Deputy Lieutenants to your organisation as a means of promoting the organisation and to acknowledge the work being done.

  • Regular and Reserve Forces and Cadets - the Lieutenancy demonstrates our support for Regular and Reserve Forces, together with Cadets, through visits to their establishments and involvement with them at a variety of events through the year. 

  • Religious Services including Services of Remembrance - we can arrange for the Lord-Lieutenant or one of his Deputies to represent HM The Queen at important celebrations and commemorations in places of worship and elsewhere.

  • Award Ceremonies - The Lord-Lieutenant and his deputy lieutenants are happy to take part in and present awards at suitable ceremonies.  Please contact the Lieutenancy Office if you would like to invite the Lieutenancy to support your event. 

  • Talks about the Lieutenancy -  the Lord-Lieutenant is happy to come to speak to groups of people about the role of the Lord Lieutenant and The Royal Family. 
  • Volunteering - we celebrate and encourage volunteering, community service and the work of youth organisations, through visits or engagement with such organisations. Many of the deputy lieutenants are directly involved with a range of charitable organisations. 

  • Fund Raising - on occasions, the Lord-Lieutenant or one of his deputies may be prepared to assist in some way with fund-raising appeals in Cornwall.

  • Contacts - Members of the Lieutenancy have a wide knowledge of organisations and people in Cornwall and may be able to assist in putting suitable people and voluntary organisations in touch with one another.

  • Media - when appropriate, and most likely in connection with a Lieutenancy visit, we can help to generate media coverage of an organisation's work.
