About Cornwall Record Office

Cornwall Record Office (CRO) was established in 1951 and cares for the largest archive collection in Cornwall, with secure strongrooms holding over four miles of records, dating from the 12th century to the present day.

A team of archivists, archive assistants, learning officers and admin staff catalogue and preserve our documents in order to make them available for researchers to use. We have many hundreds of visits and enquiries each year, and also engage thousands more people through our learning programme.
