Newquay Safe
Working locally to improve community safety
Newquay Safe facilitates and supports a coordinated multi-agency approach to community safety issues to improve feelings of safety and public reassurance, reduce the risk of harm to the community and protect vulnerable groups.
Newquay Safe has been established since 2009. Originally the partnership was focused on evening and night time economy issues but due to changes with priorities for the town the partnership has adapted to address wider community safety issues.

The award winning Newquay Safe Partnership was established in July 2009 and consisted of over 20 agencies, including Cornwall Council, to help residents and visitors to the town enjoy the very best that Newquay has to offer, by tackling crime, disorder and anti-social behaviour.
Measures introduced by the partnerships included a voluntary Bar Crawl code of Conduct, Challenge 25, which is operated in all pubs and clubs, Police powers to confiscate alcohol from anyone they believe may consume it in a public place (Designated Public Place Order), and a two week scheme to provide alcohol free, under 18 entertainment for students who visit the town after taking their exams. What happens in Newquay does not stay in Newquay. Under 18's who cause a problem in Newquay face their parents being called to take them home or will find that a detailed letter will be sent to their home or school whichever is appropriate.
Newquay Police have been resolute in their support for the town and operate a "no nonsense" approach to safeguarding our residents and visitors.
Your children and alcohol
If your child is visiting Newquay, unaccompanied, to celebrate the end of their exams its important for you to talk to them about alcohol. Not all young people drink - but it's best they hear about alcohol from you to make sure they have accurate information to help them make responsible decisions about drinking when they're faced with them.
Drinkaware's Your kids and alcohol leaflet has facts and advice to help parents take the right approach on alcohol with their children.
