17 October - Burn Awareness Day

We're supporting National Burn Awareness Day 2018 on the 17th October. Are you? 

In 2017, 7,502 children were burned or scalded. Hot drinks are the most common cause of scald injury in children – followed by contact with electric cookers, irons and hair straighteners.

20 October, 9.30am ~ 1.30pm - On-Call Firefighter Recruitment awareness

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service are holding a recruitment awareness event at Penzance Community Fire Station to explain to potential / interested candidates what the role of an on-call firefighter involves.  It will also provide an overview of the national firefighter selection tests to enable applicants to be prepared for the formal selection tests in early 2019.

Attendees are asked to:

  • Email to confirm your attendance
  • Complete the online application form prior to the event
  • Bring a form of ID
  • Bring appropriate clothing and footwear to take part in the progressive 20 meter fitness test (bleep test)


5 November, 6pm - Falmouth Community Fire Station Annual Fireworks display

Come along to the biggest firework display in Cornwall over £8,000 of fireworks set off to music provided by pirate FM, plenty of refreshments hot and cold. You can watch the fire eaters entertain you before the main event which starts at 7pm.

Entrance prices: 

  • £4 adult
  • £2 child - children must be accompanied by an adult.

Details on this years fundraising will be available shortly. Gates open at 6pm and the firework display will start at 7pm prompt from the Cricket Club, opposite the station.
