Find out how often Newquay on-call firefighters are called out to assist the Fire and Rescue Service:

In addition to responding to National Campaigns, personnel at Newquay frequently visit children's groups to talk about fire safety issues, carry out door to door visits to undertake free fire safety checks and to give advice on installing and maintaining smoke alarms and participation in local events to promote fire safety in the home.

Register for a free home fire safety check online or for more information about them, visit the fire safety page.

Newquay Community Fire Station have a unique resource called early learning fire safety (elfs), which is available to borrow free of charge by all early years establishments (including: nurseries, pre-schools, child minder's). You can find out more information by visiting our page on elfs and how to borrow the resource from a community fire station in Cornwall.

If you would like to enquire about arranging a visit for your playgroup or other relevant organisation please email or telephone 0300 1234 232

In addition to the Newquay town area, Newquay's fire appliances provide a first response to:

Crantock, Cubert, Holywell Bay, St Newlyn East, Carland Cross, Mitchell, Summercourt, Quintrell Downs, St Columb Minor, Watergate Bay

The crews also provide a dual response to RAF St Mawgan.

As one of the major tourist resorts in Cornwall, there are a number of special risks within the area including large numbers of hotels, holiday parks and camping sites which require inspection to ensure they have adequate fire precautions.  The risk of fire is also increased with the influx of visitors during the summer months, which raises Newquay's population from 22,000 to over 100,000 in the summer months.

Crews from Newquay have detailed plans in preparation for any incident which occurs at the National Trust property of Trerice Manor.  These plans help to ensure that any incidents at the Elizabethan Manor House are dealt with swiftly in an effort to minimise damage to the property and its contents.

The RAF facility at St Mawgan is also a high risk area which requires specialist training and knowledge of the site.
