The Fire Fighters Charity

About The Fire Fighters Charity

Every year, thousands of firefighters are injured whilst protecting the public. Every day in the UK, firefighters are called to incidents, putting their lives on the line, and often sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties. The Fire Fighters Charity is here for all fire service personnel during their times of need, and assists thousands of individuals every year, by providing pioneering treatment and support services.

The charity has three UK centres, located in Cumbria, Devon and West Sussex, which offer varying combinations of therapy and recuperation services. Their pioneering Beneficiary Support Services also offer local and remote assistance to people in need nationwide - providing solutions to real life problems.

It costs millions of pounds every year to keep the charity running, and with no government funding, they are completely reliant upon donations from the general public and fire community.

Over the past year, stations, teams and individuals at Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service have helped to raise £64,132.46 for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Throughout the year, Cornwall Fire, Rescue and Community Safety Service collect empty crisp packets, recycle clothes and hold a range of events to help raise money for the charity. Events have included tent sales, abseils, quiz nights, walks, cake bakes and station car washes.

Any upcoming events will be advertised on the Service events page

Empty Crisp Packet Recycling Scheme

Now closed until further notice - 17 March 2020

Sadly, due to the Coronavirus epidemic and the risk it imposes to front line staff, we can no longer accept your empty crisp packets with immediate effect. Community Fire Station access will be restricted to essential needs only. We have set up an advice and guidance web page for details on how to stay safe during the pandemic.

Further information

TerraCycle® and Walkers® partnered to create a free recycling scheme which accepts all crisp packets, which in return generated money for charities.

In March 2019, Cornwall Fire, Rescue and Community Safety Service registered with the scheme to help recycle crisp packets and stop them going to land fill, whilst also raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The scheme went from strength to strength thanks to so many members of staff and public support to be more environmentally friendly and helped us raise £3,139.50 for The Fire Fighters Charity.
