Co-Responder vehicles

Cornwall Fire, Rescue and Community Safety Service works in close partnership with South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT). We work together to provide the quickest response to people that are unwell within the community.

For this reason we currently have 6 community fire stations that respond to serious medical emergencies. These include:

  • cardiac arrests
  • heart attacks
  • strokes and
  • other life threating illnesses.

The following stations participate in the Co-Responder scheme:

2 specially trained firefighters respond to these calls. They travel to the incident in specially adapted cars. These provide storage for the vital lifesaving equipment that they carry. This includes:

  • Defibrillator
  • Oxygen
  • Entonox (pain relief)
  • Spinal board
  • First aid grab pack
