Junior Lifeskills

Cornwall Junior Lifeskills events are innovative and interactive ways of delivering personal and safety education messages to Year 5 children (9/10 year olds), and seek to encourage risk awareness and good citizenship through active participation in a range of scenarios including:

  • First aid,
  • drugs awareness,
  • crime issues,
  • fire safety,
  • personal safety,
  • electrical safety,
  • road safety,
  • environmental issues and the benefits of recycling.

The delivery of these all important messages are made annually at each of nine centres around Cornwall, each running for just a few days.  Events are staffed by the statutory organisations, professional practitioners and voluntary services.

Events are promoted under the brand of the Safer Cornwall Partnership and coordinated by Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service’s Prevention team.

The content and location of the events is decided referring to risk based evidence and the priority towns which have been identified.
