Discretionary grants for small businesses

The aim of the discretionary fund is to support small and micro businesses that have been:

Continue reading
  • Negatively affected by COVID-19
  • Haven’t already received financial assistance through other government schemes
  • Continue to have high fixed term costs related to property such as rent or mortgage payments

Revised bills are being sent to those we have identified as being eligible for the increased discount of 100%.

If you have not received a revised business rates bill by 6 April but think you should have, please contact us.

 We are awarding relief to all the nursery schools we have been able to identify on our business rates system as providers of Ofsted Early Years Education. Amended bills are being sent in week commencing 6th April 2020. If you have not received a new bill by 17th April, but think you should have please contact us on 0300 1234 171 and we can check your account and eligibility.

At the start of April we wrote to all businesses that might qualify for a grant fund payment. If you did not receive your letter and think you should qualify please contact us, see contact information on this page.

We welcome the Government’s announcement of a discretionary fund for businesses that currently do not qualify for a business support grant. This is an issue affecting many businesses in Cornwall and one we have raised with the Chancellor of the Exchequer and Cornwall’s MPs.

The Discretionary grant scheme for Cornwall has been agreed.
