The Government has announced a package of support to help business rate payers and other business that are either forced to close or negatively impacted due to local restrictions.
The Restart Grant is available from 1 April 2021 to support businesses in reopening safely as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted:
- non-essential retail premises with one-off grants of up to £6,000
- hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym business premises with one-off grants of up to £18,000
If you are a business ratepayer and have already received a Local Restriction Support Grant from us for a previous period of restriction, you don’t need to make a new application for the Restart Grant.
We received funds from Government on 6th April 2021. Businesses will start to receive their payments from 12th April 2021.
For this round of grants the government has stipulated that we must complete various additional pre-payment checks. This means some businesses may not receive their grant until later in April but we are doing all we can to make these payments as quickly as possible.
Please help us to make these checks as quickly as possible and only contact us if you have not received an email or letter remittance from us to advise payment is on it’s way by 23rd April 2021.
If your business is not registered for business rates - we will update the Additional Restrictions Grant area on this page if we receive further funds in April.
If you have been trading since the 5 Jan 2021 in a businesses rated premises and so have not been eligible to receive previous grants you may now be eligible.
The application period for local restriction support grants is now closed for all periods up to 15th February 2021.
- You can still apply for the period of national lockdown from 16th February 2021 to 31st March 2021

- Businesses with rateable value between £15,001 and £51k - £3143

The closed business lockdown payment was a one-off payment made for the period from 5 January. It will not be paid again for the extended restriction period from 16 February.
