Get married or register your civil partnership here and the options are endless – farms, castles, stately homes, hotels, seaside retreats and so much more. Run away, or bring the whole family!

One thing is sure, Cornwall makes the perfect setting for your celebration.

Whether you are planning a small intimate occasion, or a larger celebration, we are here to help. Your day is special and we want to help make it memorable for you.

Before booking your ceremony you will need to decide where you would like to be married or register your civil partnership and what style of ceremony would best suit you.

There are two types of venue to choose from for a civil marriage or civil partnership ceremony in Cornwall; a registration office or a venue licensed for civil ceremonies (known as an approved venue).  There are many approved venues across the county including castles, country houses, hotels, tourist attractions and many more.

Distinctive Ceremony

Your Distinctive Ceremony is an enhanced ceremony bespoke to your requirements.  It can take place in one of our registration offices or at an approved venue*.

Our Registration Office ceremony rooms are available every day for Distinctive Ceremonies.  We have ceremony rooms at Bodmin, Bude, Camborne, Helston, Launceston, Liskeard, Penzance, St Austell and Truro. You will need to bring two witnesses and can invite guests up to the number the ceremony room is licensed to hold.

Please refer to our Registration Offices page for details of room capacity, directions, parking, etc.

*For venues with licensed outdoor structures, please be aware that the ceremony may need to take place indoors if the weather is inclement. In this situation, the final decision regarding the location of the ceremony is made by the attending ceremony officers on the day.

Anywhere Celebratory Ceremony

(with an option to hold an additional legal ceremony)

Your Anywhere Celebratory Ceremony is just that; it can be held anywhere in Cornwall, indoors or outdoors*. This ceremony is bespoke to your requirements and although it is purely celebratory and has no legal standing, you can still exchange promises to each other.  You have the option to holding a separate legal ceremony in addition to your Anywhere Celebratory Ceremony, so feel free to contact us to discuss your specific requirements and we can provide you with further advice.

*You may need to seek permission from the land owner

Classic Ceremony

Your classic ceremony is held in a registration office ceremony room and is available every day from 9.00am to 5.00pm.  We have ceremony rooms at the Bodmin, Bude, Camborne, Helston, Launceston, Liskeard, Penzance, St Austell and Truro offices. You will need to bring two witnesses and can invite guests up to the number the ceremony room is licensed to hold.

Within the classic marriage ceremony you will have a choice of the legal declaratory and contracting words.  Within a civil partnership ceremony, there is no legal requirement for you to exchange vows.  However, we do provide some optional vows should you wish to do so. Your celebrant will provide an additional vow and ring vow along with background music for the beginning and end of the ceremony.

Please refer to our Registration offices page for details of room capacity, directions, parking, etc.

Simple Ceremony

Your simple ceremony is just that – simple and straightforward.  The ceremony is held in the ceremony room and is ideal for those wanting a brief and simple ceremony in the presence of four guests, two of whom will be your witnesses.  Simple ceremonies are available everyday between 9:00am - 5:00pm. A Simple marriage ceremony will have a choice of the legal declaratory and contracting words.  Within a Simple civil partnership ceremony, there is no legal requirement for you to exchange vows.  However, we do provide some optional vows should you wish to do so.

Please refer to our Registration offices page for directions, parking, etc.

Statutory Appointment

Your Statutory Appointment is held in a working office and is an administrative affair. You will attend the appointment with two guests as your witnesses. You will have a choice of the legal declaratory and contracting words that you will say to one another and then you will both sign the marriage register with your witnesses. These are available Monday-Thursday; please contact us to discuss specific availability.
