Register a birth & Giving Notice of Marriage/Civil Partnership

Following the lifting of Government restrictions we are now able to resume birth registration and notice appointments. We are able to operate these face to face appointments from a number of our offices, currently:

Please note that claims for Child Benefit or Universal Credit can now be made before the birth is registered if you have not been able to because of the current measures.

You are now able to register a death over the telephone. Please use this form to request an appointment

Once a request for an appointment has been made, we should be in contact with you within 3 days of the request.  However due to the change in procedure there may be delays.  Please bear with us during this time.

On 23 June, the Government announced that small marriage and civil partnership ceremonies could resume. Guidance was published earlier this week by the Government and our governing body, the General Register Office, and we have worked our way through it to ensure we are complying with all of the new rules.  The guidance is very clear and will result in reduced capacity in our ceremony rooms.  We will be adhering to the recommended 2m distance between households for the safety of our customers and the ceremony registrars.
