The first sections of the Saints Trails from Perranporth to Goonhavern were opened on 30 November 2022. The first section of the St Agnes route, initially to Sevenmilestone, will open in early 2023.

The Council has confirmed that a contractor will be appointed to design and construct a new bridge at Chiverton. The new bridge is due to open in late 2023. It will accommodate pedestrians, cyclists and equestrian users

Planning consent for the Perranporth - Newquay route was approved.

The Secretary of State decided that an Environmental Impact Assessment was not required. Negotiations continue with landowners on land sale.

Recommendation for approval of planning consent on the Perranporth - Newquay route received.

Goonhavern park works are complete. Planning application for St
Agnes-Chiverton was determined on 13th October. Perranporth - Newquay application has been submitted. It is due for determination on 5th November.

Construction has continued in Goonhavern. This should be complete by early October. 

The St Agnes to Threemilestone planning application determination is due late September. Perranporth to Newquay determination will be early October. Landowner negotiations are progressing with further meetings scheduled.

Planning submission for the trail between Station Road, Perranporth and the A392, Newquay has been submitted. Archaeological constraint plans for Perranporth to Newquay have been created. Possibility of an inward route into Newquay is being explored

The next phase of the Saints Trails is due to start on 1 September in Goonhavern.

Phase one completed in July.  It has created a length of multi user trail alongside Perranwell Road. The next phase will extend the trail from the Bridge Road playing area car park, across the playing field towards Halt Road. Works will to take up to 5 weeks. Resurfacing will also take place in the car park

Negotiations with landowners on the St Agnes route continue. An online community engagement event with stakeholders has taken place too. A funding bid has been submitted to support construction on the St Agnes route.

Works at Goonhavern are almost complete. Signage, white lining and traffic light set up will be the final tasks. Validation for planning submission will take place by the end of July.

Documentation for St Newlyn East to Carland Cross is being reviewed. The A39 construction package on the Trispen to Idless route is complete.

The delivery of the core scheme will now finish in March 2022. This is due to ongoing negotiations with Highways England. The St Agnes to Threemilestone section of the scheme will begin later this year. External funding is currently being sought for further cycle infrastructure. This funding is to link up:

  • Threemilestone
  • Treliske Hospital
  • and Truro city centre

The Coronoavirus outbreak caused the works at Goonhavern to stop. Cormac are due to recommence by the end of the month. Approximately 90% of the works were complete by the time of lockdown. There is still a small amount of work to complete in Goonhavern. Surfacing, signage installation and a new path in the park are still to complete.

Planning submission for sections of the Perranporth to Newquay will take place. This will occur in late June. Residents can comment on the planning application for Goonvrea Road to Chiverton. This is part of the St Agnes to Threemilestone route.

Construction has commenced on the Perranporth - Newquay route with current works taking place in Goonhavern.

Throughout August 2019 many public exhibitions took place on the latest current proposals. The project team answered many detailed questions from members of the public.

The exhibitions showed how the Council and CORMAC will construct the individual paths. 

Highways England is improving the lives of communities either side of the A30 to the north of Truro by providing funding for a range of:

  • cycling
  • heritage and
  • wildlife projects

£17m will be invested from their Cycling, Safety and Integration Designated Fund.  This will be put towards high-quality off-road walking and cycling schemes. The cycling schemes will be delivered by Cornwall Council who will add in a further £2m. The Scheme Launch was held at the Knowledge Spa at the RCH Treliske.  There were over 60 attendees from:

  • Cornwall Council
  • Parish Councils
  • Cycling groups
  • Environmental organisations
