Parking tariff proposals 2018

We're proposing to make changes to car parking tariffs across Cornwall Council car parks from 1 April 2018. On these pages you can find more information about the proposals and why we're doing this, as well as details on changes to parking permits, which we hope will offer regular car park users more flexibility in the way you pay to park.

Changes to car park tariffs from 1 April 2018

  • Evening parking charges - all Council car parks will be free during the evenings (this will range from between 4pm and 6pm depending on the car park)
  • Day time seasonal parking charges (1 April to 31 October) will be standardised in our most congested areas, places which are well served by public transport and where there is heavy demand for parking spaces. This means seasonal tariffs will be the same for Council car parks in Falmouth, Newquay, Penzance and St Ives. In Truro these charges will apply all year round. We are proposing to set tariffs in the car parks in these areas at £1.50 per hour, up to £8 to park for 24 hours.
  • Day time car park tariffs in all other towns and villages across Cornwall will remain at the same seasonal rates which have been in place since 2015.
  • Seasonal parking permits - we are making changes which will mean regular car park users will be able to park at a cheaper day rate. From 1 April 2018 you will be able to bulk buy cheaper all day parking sessions (through JustPark) which are not time limited, and can therefore be used throughout the year (subject to a minimum spend of £50).
  • Reserved parking permits - the cost of these permits have remained the same for the last three years, while the waiting list for those who want a permit has increased. Having assessed the market value of these spaces, we are increasing the cost of these to better reflect the value. To help spread the cost, permits will be available to buy by direct debit.
