Turn Around Don't Drown

More

With the recent heavy rain causing considerable localised flooding on roads throughout the County, Safer Cornwall, has launched a new multi-agency campaign in a bid to warn drivers of the dangers of driving through floodwater.

The ‘Turn Around Don’t Drown’ initiative aims to raise awareness of how dangerous floodwater can be, with the shocking message that it takes as little as 60cm of standing water to float a car and under 30cm of flowing water to push a car off the road. Please visit the Turn Around Don't Drown page.

Driving safer for longer

Cornwall Council road safety is able to offer groups of mature drivers free workshops as part of the Driving Safer for Longer initiative. These take the form of presentations and discussions to assist you in continuing to enjoy driving.

Following the success of our previous workshops around the county, we are now planning some new venues. If you or someone you know would be interested in a Driving Safer for Longer workshop in your area, or for a particular group (such as Women's Institute or the University of the 3rd Age) then please contact the Road Safety using the contact information on the right hand side.

All of the workshops are completely free of charge. To book your place, please call us on 0300 1234 222 and ask to speak to Road Safety, or email roadsafety@cornwall.gov.uk

For further information, please visit the Driving Safer for Longer page.

Work Related Road Safety

Work Related Road Safety does not just apply to those people who drive as part of their job, but also everyone that manages drivers. On average, 65% of all company vehicles will be involved in a collision over the next 12 months according to the AA.

Cornwall’s Road Safety Team offer completely free workshops to local businesses. These cover general and specific road safety issues and can be tailored to your company’s needs. Simply contact us using the details on the right hand side.

For further information, please visit the Work Related Road Safety page.
