Bude - Bude Sea Pool

General Information

More

Bude Sea Pool is a beautiful, part natural, part man-made pool in the rocks at Summerleaze Beach (location map), in Bude and was built originally in 1930, although there have been many refurbishments carried out, the latest in spring 2011. The sea pool is now managed by the friends of Bude Sea Pool.

  • It is filled at high tide by the sea water of the Atlantic Ocean.
  • At its greatest length and width it is approx 90 metres long and 45 metres wide
  • The pool is available for all public use between 10am and 6pm, conditions permitting, including inflatables and snorkelling
  • Water temperatures range from 11 degrees Celcius in April to 18 degrees in September

Please ensure that small children are closely supervised by an adult at all times and also remember that because of the varying depth and potential for submersible debris to be brought in from the ocean at high tide there is a NO DIVING into any part of the pool.

Dogs

  • Please ensure that all dogs are kept out of the Sea Pool even when it is closed to the public.

When there are no lifeguards on duty.

We strongly advise people not to use the pool when there are no:

  • lifeguards
  • first aid equipment
  • extensive rescue equipment

There may be groups using the pool during the closed period such as the RNLI and the Bude Surf Lifesaving Club, both of whom use the pool for training and exams. These groups will be supervised by their own qualified lifeguards.
