Conference of Peripheral Maritime
Regions
A partnership of more than 150 peripheral and
maritime regions across Europe. The partnership deals with
promoting a more balanced development of the European Union
highlighting the value of all its geographical areas with a view to
strengthening its economic, social and territorial cohesion. They
are pursuing this objective in several ways: - by studying together
with EU, national and regional institutions how to implement a
Europe-wide polycentric development model, - by ensuring that EC
policies with a high territorial impact include this dimension in
the best possible way. Activities are focussed on issues such as
regional policy, transport, the environment, maritime-related
activities (fisheries, coastal zone management, maritime safety),
agriculture and rural development, etc. - by developing
inter-regional cooperation within large European geographical
entities - Baltic, North Sea, Atlantic, Mediterranean, Black Sea,
Balkans, Islands - and also outside Europe.

Atlantic Arc Commission
The Atlantic Arc Commission is a sub-division
of the CPMR and brings together some 30 regions along Europe's
Atlantic coast. The mission of the Arc Manche Assembly is to
promote the Channel area as a coherent entity for territorial
co-operation at European Union level. Working as a co-operative
network, it aims to reinforce Franco-British partnerships between
regions on both sides of the Channel by delivering joint actions
and projects.
