Together for Housing Conference 2016

Cornwall Council hosted a Housing Conference on 16 November at the St Austell Business Park Conference Centre. This was one of the main events undertaken to inform the review of Cornwall’s housing strategy and provided an opportunity for those working in the housing sector to discuss current and future issues with Cornwall Council Members and other representatives.

Delegates to the event were welcomed by Joyce Duffin, Cabinet Member for Housing and Environment, the Opening Address came from Kate Kennally, CEO of Cornwall Council and the Keynote Address was given by Paul Crawford, CEO of DCH Group.

A number of workshops were included to give delegates the opportunity to discuss ways of responding to current issues, and a number of positive outcomes from these workshops will be taken forward into the review of the housing strategy. The workshops were:

  1. Welfare Reform: Whose Issue is it? plus Pre-Conference Notes;
  2. How Accessible is Social Housing? plus Pre-Conference Notes;
  3. Health, Social Care and Housing: plus Pre-Conference Notes;
  4. Solutions to Entrenched Rough Sleeping in Cornwall: plus Pre-Conference Notes
  5. Accelerating Housebuilding to Deliver the Local Plan: plus Pre-Conference Notes;
  6. New Homes Now: Off Site Construction as an Innovative Way of Delivering New Homes: plus Pre-Conference Notes.

A number of exhibitions at the conference showcased many of our partners activities.
