Services that offer extra help


The following services are available to all families across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly that need some additional help and support.  Please note that some services are located in Devon where families access health services across the Cornwall / Devon border.

Your health

Healthy Cornwall provide support with:

  • healthy eating
  • weight management
  • physical activity
  • stopping smoking
  • healthy pregnancy

Our healthy pregnancy advisors will be available after you have had your 12 week scan to give advice on having a healthy pregnancy.

Hunrosa (sleep in Cornish) are sleep consultants who help people of all ages to improve their sleep

Mental Health

Kooth provides free, safe and anonymous support via its online mental wellbeing community for young people and young parents.

Talking Therapies for anxiety and depression if run by Cornwall Partnership NHS Trust and provides free, confidential talking therapies for people who are registered with a GP in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, aged 16 years and over, experiencing common difficulties including:

  • low mood
  • stress
  • anxiety
  • worry

Man Down Cornwall supports men's mental health in Cornwall by providing informal peer-support talking groups all over Cornwall for men with mental health concerns.

Out of Hours health advice

You can get help for your symptoms or medical help using the NHS 111 service

Early Help Hub

The Hub is the ‘front door’ to Early Help services led by Cornwall Council and Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

Staff within the Early Help Hub will decide whether a child / young person is eligible for support and which service is most appropriate. This is usually in discussion with the person making the request and / or young person / family.

Support for parents

Home-Start Kernow offers free, confidential support, friendship and practical help to parents of children under five in the county of Cornwall who are going through a difficult time.

WILD Young Parents provide a whole family service for young mums, dads, and their children.

Parent Carers Cornwall provide support, advice and guidance for families who have children and a special educational need and / or disability.

Pentreath Ltd employ Community Development Workers to support Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities. This can be activities such as 1:1 case work, support to access mental health services or help to develop your organisation to be more accessible.

Safe Haven Cornwall run facilitated support groups, social support weekends providing opportunities for peer-to-peer support, workshops, outings for transgender people.
