Adopted Policy

The Cornwall Local Plan was formally adopted on 22 November 2016. It provides a positive and flexible overarching planning policy framework for Cornwall for the period up to 2030.

The plan was submitted to the Secretary of State in February 2015 for examination and the inspector’s report was published in September 2016. The Inspector’s recommended main modifications have been included in the adopted plan.

The Cornwall Local Plan replaces a number of policies from the Local plans of the former District and Borough Councils and the Minerals and Waste Plans of the former County Council.

Neighbourhood Plans are being prepared in Cornwall and are being adopted as policy as they are approved.

The Secretary of State formally ‘saved’ a range of policies from the existing adopted Local and Structure Plans.The majority of these are now replaced by the Cornwall Local Plan.  However, some of the policies continue to be saved as per Appendix 3 of the Cornwall Local Plan.
