The St Ives Area Neighbourhood Development Plan is now formally made and can be used from 29th December 2016, as part of the development plan in development management decisions in the St Ives Area Neighbourhood Plan Area. 

Following the Adoption of the Cornwall Local Plan: Strategic Policies on 22nd November 2016, any Neighbourhood Development Plan ‘made’ prior to that date has been checked against the policies of the Cornwall Local Plan for general conformity. The St Ives Area NDP has been assessed to determine whether any of its policies would be in conflict with the policies of the Cornwall Local Plan and a statement has been inserted at the beginning of the Plan document. The referendum for the St Ives Neighbourhood Development Plan was held on 5 May 2016. The St Ives Neighbourhood Plan and associated documents were available to view at the St Ives One Stop Shop and Library during the referendum. Information about the St Ives referendum can be downloaded below:

The Independent Examiner for the St Ives Neighbourhood Development Plan was Deborah McCann. Cornwall Council received the Examiner's report on St Ives Neighbourhood Development Plan. The examiner’s report concludes that subject to the modifications in the report, the Plan should proceed to referendum. The Examiner's report is available to view below:

St Ives Town Council submitted their plan proposal to Cornwall Council for their designated Neighbourhood Development Plan Area on 5 March 2015. The plan proposal consultation ran between 18 June and 30 July 2015.

The documents submitted to the Council included a copy of a map and statement which identifies the area to which the proposed Neighbourhood Development Plan relates to; a consultation statement; the proposed Neighbourhood Development Plan and a statement explaining how the proposed Neighbourhood Development Plan meets the requirements of paragraph 8 of Schedule 4B to the 1990 Act (The Basic Conditions Statement.) Copies of those documents and additional associated documents are available to download below:

St Ives Town Council submitted an application and map to designation their Neighbourhood Area on 1 June 2013. Cornwall Council consulted residents and other interested stakeholders on the designation between 18 July and Thursday 29 August 2013. Copies of the application letter and statement that explains how the Town Council and Neighbourhood Area met the conditions of Section 61G(2) of the Town And Country Planning Act 1990, were made available to view from St Ives library and One Stop Shop during the six week consultation period.
