The St Austell and China Clay Eco-communities is a proposal to regenerate the clay country through new villages, job creation and improved infrastructure. The principles of the Eco-community was established through the nation-wide group of Eco Towns supported by central government. In Cornwall, the Eco-communities will be delivered by the private sector, led by Eco-Bos.
Cornwall Council has two distinct roles in respect of the delivery the Eco-community, one as the planning authority, we will decide upon planning applications. The second is as the facilitator to enable the West Carclaze and Baal Eco-community as identified in the St Austell, St Blazey and China Clay Area Regeneration Plan and the emerging Cornwall Local Plan.
On these pages you will find information about how the public sector is working to bring forward the Eco-communities projects.
