Information, advice and support

Section 2 of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice 0 to 25 years states that local authorities must provide parents, children and young people with information, and advice in relation to SEN and disability.

Advice should be free, accurate, confidential and accessible. It should be impartial and provided at arm’s length from the local authority. Local authorities must arrange for children and young people with SEN or disabilities, and their parents, to be provided with information and advice about matters relating to their SEN or disabilities. This includes matters relating to health and social care and information, advice and support on the take-up and management of Personal Budgets.
