Holocaust Memorial Day 2014

Holocaust Journeys

The theme for Holocaust Memorial Day 2014 is ‘journeys’. Every year young people from schools across Cornwall visit the sites in Germany and Eastern Europe where the Holocaust took place. This year the Chairman and the Leader of the Council asked that a film could be made which reflected these journeys.

The short film below focuses on the experience of nine young people from three schools (Richard Lander School, Truro and St Ives School) and the impact that visiting Auschwitz had on them and the lessons that can be learned by reflecting on the terrible events of the Holocaust and other acts of genocide.

The project was supported by Cornwall SACRE as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting Holocaust Memorial Day.
