Cornwall Council provides transport free of charge to school in line with its duties under Section 508 and 509 of the Education Act 1996 and Schedule 35B inserted by the Education and Inspections Act 2006.

Provided transport is generally limited to those children living outside walking distance (two miles for primary pupils and three miles for secondary pupils) from their nearest suitable school or the school designated for their address by the Local Authority. However, transport will also be provided in some other circumstances, such as when a child's special educational needs or disability, or a parent's disability, demands it.

For more information see the complete Home to School Transport Policy.

Applications or enquiries regarding transport to school and whether your child is eligible should be sent to the email address on the right of this page.

Further information is available on transport for students aged 16-19 to sixth forms or further education colleges.

You may also find the DfE's Home to School Travel and Transport Guidance helpful.
