Peace and goodwill will reign over Trafalgar Roundabout this
Christmas as roadworks are suspended over the festive season.
The works, to improve the road and utility network, will stop on
Friday 21 December and restart on Monday 7 January.
Having worked overnight at the site since September and during
last month’s heavy rain which brought flooding to many areas of
Cornwall, the 14 strong team from Cormac Solutions Ltd are on
target to complete the scheme by August next year.
“The team carrying out the work have had a tough time with the
weather to date and have done a sterling job to make sure we stay
on schedule,” said Sam Ward from Cormac. “All service diversion
works on the St Austell Street side of the roundabout have been
completed including the new gas and water mains which are now in
use.
“When the team go back on site in January they will be working
on the St.Clements Hill side of the roundabout. Works will include
the diversion of water and gas mains from the roundabout to the
footways and verge on the St Clements/Malpas side of the
junction.
“This phase will take until mid Spring 2013 and will be followed
by the improvement works to the roundabout and junction to Quay
Street. We will provide further updates following the Christmas
break to inform all of our continuing progress.”
