Chairman welcomes Cornwall Federation of Women’s Institutes to County Hall

The Chairman of Cornwall Council Mrs Pat
Harvey has once again welcomed a delegation of members of the
Cornwall Federation of Women’s
Institutes (CFWI) to County Hall in Truro.
and Public Affairs Sub-Committee of the CFWI were inundated
with applications from members of more than 20 institutes across
Cornwall following an invitation from Mrs Harvey to come and
observe a meeting of the Council’s Cabinet and have the opportunity
to meet with members and officers.
Mrs Harvey said “It was a great pleasure to welcome another
group of members of the CFWI from across Cornwall to County Hall
and give them the opportunity to listen to a Cabinet debate.
It is important that individuals and organisations have the
opportunity to meet with members, discuss their areas of interest
and to see first hand how the Council works.”
Sub-Committee member Anne Fenwick said “The WI is concerned to
improve the quality of women’s lives in diverse ways and local
government is often crucial to this. We are extremely
grateful to the Chairman and members of the Council’s Cabinet for

The CFWI Environment
and Public Affairs Sub-Committee has responsibility for
promoting the knowledge and awareness of environmental issues –
both the natural and managed environment; as well as local
government and national and international affairs.
The Committee is also responsible for promoting the national
resolutions that over the years have made a significant impact on
life in the UK, both rural and urban, for example ‘Keep Britain
Tidy’; and ‘Farmgate milk price’.
