Mission Garden, Falmoth, Volunteers

Cornwall in Bloom, now in its second year with 66 volunteer groups participating, is a simple initiative which is aimed at small, resident-led communities who want to improve the area where they live.  It doesn't matter if it's only a few neighbours who want to tackle local litter, or a larger group who wish to tidy up a grot spot. or look after a recreational area which is perhaps a bit run down.

Anyone can enter, the competition is free, and Cornwall Council can assist you with advice and support - you don’t even need to know anything about gardening.

So if you want to make improvements to your neighbourhood and have some say in its management, then Cornwall in Bloom is a great way to get your neighbours and your local community to work together and really make a difference!

The categories for the competition :

  • Clean and Tidy/Quality of the environment
  • First Impressions
  • Parks and Gardens
  • Grow your own
  • Best Eco-Initiative
  • Goodbye to grot spots
  • Local hero

The competition is now closed for 2011, but that doesn't mean that work just stops here.  Many of you are planning for next year, raising funds and improving your neighbourhoods all year round.
