Cornwall Council is working as part of Newquay Safe, a
multi agency partnership, to address the many complex and
varied issues that Newquay currently faces.
The award winning Newquay Safe Partnership was established in
July 2009 and consists of approximately 30 officers and
members from 15 different Council services and partner agencies,
along with representatives of local groups and organisations. The
Partnership is currently working on over 50 individual
projects.
Newquay Safe is a unique solution for a unique problem.
Newquay is working hard to address the variety of issues that
the town, its residents and businesses are dealing with around
alcohol related anti social behaviour.
The Newquay Safe Partnership's main aim is to enhance Newquay’s
environment and atmosphere for everyone.
Your children and alcohol
If your child is visiting Newquay, unaccompanied,
to celebrate the end of their exams its important for you to talk
to them about alcohol. Not all young people drink - but it's best
they hear about alcohol from you to make sure they have accurate
information to help them make responsible decisions about drinking
when they're faced with them.
Drinkaware's Your kids
and alcohol leaflet has facts and advice to help parents take
the right approach on alcohol with their children.
Drinkaware's 'Your Kids and Alcohol'
campaign is encouraging parents to talk to their children about
alcohol before they start drinking, ideally in the pre-teen years.
The average age children first have a drink is currently 13.8
years. Drinkaware advice
parents to delay the age of a child's first drink to make them
less likely to drink more and more frequently as they grow
up.
Newquay on the national stage with Baroness Helen Newlove
Newquay Safe is showcased in
Baroness Newlove's concluding report for the Government's
vision for active, safer communities.
Newquay Safe Partners are working nationally to help shape future
legislation.
