This page tells you how to submit a planning
application online, download forms, make a payment and where to get
more help and advice.
Submitting applications online
You can use the Planning
Portal to submit and pay for your application online. If
this is the first time you’ve used the Planning Portal service, you
will also need to register.
Please provide black and white A3 plans in PDF
format, no larger than 5MB each. Please include the type of
drawing, site name, and paper size in your file titles. If you are
submitting a major application, you may be asked to provide
additional paper copies of the plans or the information on compact
disk.
Most planning applications need a site
location plan and block plan showing the location and boundaries of
the site you are planning to work on. You can obtain site
plans from the Planning Portal's Buy
a Plan service or from these libraries: Bude,
Redruth, St Austell, St Ives and Truro. You can view more
information about plans from the library or phone 0800
0322 345 to make an appointment for this service.

Planning fees
You can view a comprehensive list of fees and charges in
our Fees and
charges document. The Planning Portal
Fee calculator takes you through a set of questions to
help work out your planning application fee.
You can pay your fee on our website, by cheque payable to
Cornwall Council or via the Planning Portal. Follow this link
to pay online.
Pre-application advice
We offer an optional pre-application advice service which helps
cut down on the number of unsuccessful planning applications.
As part of this service, we’ll research the history of the site,
visit the site (if required), highlight areas for further
investigation and provide a detailed written response which
includes an opinion as to whether or not a planning application
would be worth pursuing.
Validation checking service
We also provide an optional validation checking service to help speed up
the registration of your application. The service includes
meeting with you by appointment to go through your application and
check that it meets the local and national validation
requirements.
