Volunteer Celebration
On April 20th the Toy Library had a
special meeting to celebrate the valued work of their volunteers
and the contribution they make to the Toy Library. Staff and
volunteers are pictured above enjoying the day.
Moving and handling training for
parent carers
SCOPE and Cornwall Council are running
a number of FREE sessions on moving and handling for parent
carers. They can help you learn how to lift and move your
child safely and care for yourself.
Come and meet other parent carers -
learn and share together
The course is for just 4 hours with
lunch provided. Choose from one of the following dates and
venues:
- 8th July Camborne Children’s Centre
1000-1400
- 11th September Redruth Children’s Centre
1000-1400
- 7th October Hayle Children’s Centre
1000-1400
- 18th November Scope.Inc Saltash 1000-1400
- 3rd December Helston Children’s Centre

These one-off courses for Parents of Disabled Children are being
offered by Cornwall Children, Schools and Families Directorate in
partnership with the Scope Inclusion Team.

Moving and
handling training
Talk and Explore
Formerly known as "Ready, Steady, Go," this is
a group especially for families where there is a child who has
additional needs - this includes disabled children. The
group runs on the second Tuesday of each month from 1-2.30pm,
these are the forthcoming dates:
July 14th, August 11th and
September 8th.
The drop-in sessions provide opportunities for families to
get together and share play, support, information and ideas in a
friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

Poetry for Penwith Children:
Last year we asked parents and carers in Penwith to write and
contribute poems about their children and their experiences - thank
you to everyone who contributed poems to us, the first edition
of Poetry for Penwith is now available - you can download
a pdf copy here:
Poetry for Penwith Children
For 2009 we would like to produce another edition, so if
you have a poem about your relationship and experiences with your
children then we would love to include it. Please send your
