Welcome to Services for Children, Young People & Families

Welcome to the website of Cornwall County Council's Services for Children, Young People and Families. We are a diverse range of services that includes:

  • Child Protection and Welfare;
  • Children's Social Care including the Fostering Service, Residential Care, Adoption Service and Leaving Care Service;
  • Family Services including children's centres and nursery provision;
  • Individual Needs, Additional Educational Needs and services for Children with Disability;
  • Maintained Primary and Secondary Schools;
  • Preventative services including the Youth Offending Team and youth functions of the Drug and Alcohol Abuse Team;
  • Special Schools and Pupil Referral Units;
  • Youth Service.

We provide these services to 100,000 children, young people and families dispersed across Cornwall and we do so in strong partnership with other agencies in the public and voluntary sector. This partnership is particularly strong with agencies and organisations such as Health, Police, District Councils, Probation Service, Connexions Service, Learning and Skills Council, Further Education and Tertiary Colleges, NSPCC and NCH.

Two key areas of our service mission are:

  • to ensure that young people, their families and carers participate in our service design and improvement; and
  • we constantly focus on the integration and joining up of these services around the needs of children and young people.

To achieve these ambitious and challenging aspirations, across dispersed and complex services, requires responsive and effective communications. This web site is to provide one of the tools in that communication. It has been designed to meet the needs of a variety of audiences: young people, their families and carers, partner agencies and the practitioners and support staff of our service. We hope, through our consultations, that we have achieved that and will continue to improve and expand the site in response to your ongoing feedback.

May I thank you for visiting this site and once again welcome you to Services for Children, Young People and Families.
