Online communities are websites that enable people who share a common interest to interact with each other. Cornwall Council actively uses some online communities such as Facebook, Twitter and Vimeo to communicate with customers, partners and businesses.

Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users profiles(known as tweets), these are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.

Facebook has a huge following and we are using Facebook at Cornwall Council  to raise awareness of campaigns, open discussions about issues that affect Cornwall.

Vimeo is a respectful community of creative people who are passionate about sharing the videos they make.

Cornwall Council uses Vimeo to display videos on our own website and to also make them available to users to share on their own sites.

Please exercise safe surfing guidelines when using the Internet.

Please be aware that social networking sites have their own useage policies but we do reserve the right to remove any contributions that break the rules or guidelines of the relevant community, or any of the following:

  • Please be polite to others
  • Do not post messages that are unlawful, libellous, harassing, defamatory, abusive, threatening, harmful, obscene, profane, sexually oriented or racially offensive.
  • Do not use obscene language
  • Do not copy content from other sites that you don't own 
  • Do not post the same message, or very similar messages, more than once (also called "spamming").
  • Never publicise other people's details online
  • Advertising of products and services are not permitted
  • Do not impersonate someone else.

Please take care when posting information that could be considered as libellous.  This is statements that brings a person or organisation into disrupute or has potential to damage their reputation.  We will remove any comments that we feel fall within the boundaries of inappropriate.
