Cross Border Constituency

There has been much debate on the issue of the cross border constituency proposed by the Parliamentary Boundary Commission. The Commission were in Cornwall earlier in the month and I gave evidence on behalf of the Council. There is firm opposition to the idea of this huge constituency and real concerns about the ability of one MP to fight on behalf of the interests of both Devon and Cornwall. Our clear borders and the how the other Public bodies are organised focus on Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, not across the two counties. There is a Private Members Bill going through Parliament that could see a change in the regulations and I urge all residents to contact their MP and lobby for their support for this Bill.

You can read the representation I made to the Parliamentary Boundary Commission.
