Full electoral register
The electoral register lists everyone who is entitled to vote. You can view it by calling at our offices listed below.
Only certain people and organisations can have copies of the electoral register, and they can only use it for specified purposes. These include electoral purposes, the prevention and detection of crime and checking your identity when you have applied for credit.
The Representation of the People (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2002 list who can have a copy of the full register and what they can use it for. It is a criminal offence to pass the full register on to anyone else or use it for any other purpose.
Open (formerly called edited) register
The open register leaves out the details of people who have asked to be excluded from that version of the register. The open version can be bought by anyone who asks for a copy and they may use it for any purpose including marketing.
You may opt out of the open register by ticking the relevant box on the electoral register application form. If you wish to opt out permanently, please write to us at either of the addresses shown on the right of this page.
Even if you are excluded from the open register, you will still be listed in the full electoral register which is used for elections and by the credit reference agencies.
For more information about the two registers, please contact us on 0300 123 1115 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
