Projects and Partnerships

The Archives and Cornish Studies Service has been involved with many projects, including partnerships with other organisations and projects devised or supported by external funders. At the moment we are busy working on the Kresen Kernow project to bring a new archive centre to Cornwall although we are also involved in a range of other projects and partnerships; for details, please see below.

Redruth Brewery Oral History Project

We are currently looking for participants in an oral history project which focuses on the former Redruth Brewery site and the businesses surrounding it. Do you have memories of the area? Did you work in the brewery or related businesses? If so, we'd love to hear from you. Please contact us using the details on this page.

Lanhydrock House Volunteer Cataloguing Project

The Lanhydrock volunteer archive cataloguing project continues to run successfully into its second year, having started out originally as a nine month cataloguing grant project. There was so much enthusiasm and dedication to the project it now runs remotely with guidance from Cornwall Record Office staff. A core group of 12 volunteers are well established and an additional 6 have been recruited this winter. Volunteers work on cataloguing deeds and leases; correspondence; plans and manorial records from the Clifden collection, which also includes material related to the Agar-Robartes family. The team have achieved a great deal and are now recognised as part of the National Trust’s core group of volunteers for Lanhydrock House. The online catalogue, available through the Record Office's online catalogue under reference code ‘CL’, now comprises over 5,500 entries and continues to be updated on a regular basis. With over 4.1m3 manuscript records, 515 volumes and 573 bundles of plans there is certainly enough material to explore for the foreseeable future! A project case study is available on the The National Archives website. The archive material is currently held at both Cornwall Record Office and Lanhydrock House, and the intention is that it will all be stored together in future.

Secondary Schools' Drama Showcase

We are currently working with the Hall For Cornwall and Kernow Education Arts Partnership to produce the next Seconday Schools' Drama Showcase, which takes place at the Hall For Cornwall on February 1st. Four writers were commissioned to write new short plays inspired by our collections, which will be performed by students from twelve Cornish secondary schools across two performances. For more information on the event, or to buy tickets, please visit the Hall For Cornwall website.
