Newquay Safe on the national stage

Newquay Safe partners are working nationally to help shape future legislation by:

  • Meeting with Baroness Newlove, Champion for active, safer communities
  • Meeting with the Home Office
  • Taking part in a panel of speakers at a Westminster briefing, chaired by Diane Abbott - shadow minister for Public Health, on dealing with alcohol related harm
  • Attending a Westminster adjournment debate
  • Taking part in a Drinkaware and MumsNet panel debate with parent bloggers about parents, children and alcohol
  • Attending Stephen Gilberts MP Parliamentary Reception at the Houses of Parliament
  • Newquay Safe Partnership wins Local Government Award for Children's Services
  • Newquay Safe leads the way in tackling alcohol related ASB again in summer 2011
  • The Newquay Youth Forum have produced a film to showcase what they love about their home town. It includes some of the things they really enjoy about living in Newquay. The young filmmakers want people to know that young people can enjoy Newquay safely and responsibly. Shout about Youth Newquay film

In his speech at the Drinkaware annual conference on 19 January Lord Henley highlighted our partnership referring to the innovative schemes we have introduced to address the national issue of alcohol fuelled crime disorder and anti social behaviour public nuisance caused by alcohol abuse. Lord Henley emphasised Newquay Safe is a good example of partnership working and commended our work and achievements.
