St. Columb is an on-call fire station

The station was opened in April 2003, which coincided with the anniversary of having a Fire Service in St. Columb. The station appliances are a Mercedes Benz 1124 (Rescue Pump) and a Land Rover L4P (4-wheel Drive Pump).

The station covers an area incorporating a diverse range of hazards including rural and farming, built up domestic areas, large industrial areas and major transport networks including rail, road and air. The crew at St. Columb cover two major roads; the A30 dual carriageway and the A39, which means there are a wide variety of vehicle related incidents. The Rescue Pump is equipped with crash rescue equipment and is a designated rescue pump. St. Columb is the closest fire station to Newquay airport, where there is a good working relationship with the Airport Fire Service. Both fire stations participate in training exercises together.

There are a number of industrial estates in the station area with a wide variety of different businesses. One of the main risks is the Pall factory on the St. Columb Industrial Estate. The station regularly provides back up to Newquay Community Fire Station.
