Service Support

The Service Support team helps to guide and support members of staff, teams and services within Cornwall Fire, Rescue and Community Safety Service.

Our team of specialist officers help staff receive the right help and assistance on a variety of work-related issues. We provide efficient and effective management support for the Fire and Rescue Service to ensure critical services can operate at their best. From projects to partnerships, business planning to performance, engagement to communications, policy to administration, and a whole lot more, we aim to provide advice or tools needed to make things happen.

These support functions include: 

  • Business Support
    This covers key areas including; planning and engagement, risk management information, communications, quality assurance and special projects, and business systems and assurance.

  • Critical Control Centre 

    This is an emergency call centre facility staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, acting as a focal point for all operational activities and for all other out of hours activities within Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. CCC maintains a strong liaison with operational crews on both operational and administrative tasks, with a countywide topographical and geographical knowledge.

  • Engineering, Workshops and Stores

    Job roles within workshops include; vehicle mechanics, fabricators, equipment technicians and stores personnel. The mechanics are responsible for the maintenance and repair of all CFRCS Service vehicles and equipment, such as Light Portable Pumps (LPP’s), Positive Pressure Ventilation Fans (PPV’s), Generators and Crash rescue Equipment (CRE). 

  • Human Resources and Payroll

    These teams provide advice, support and information about staff wellbeing, finance, policies and recruitment.

  • Service Support Admin

    This team provides administrative support across the Fire, Rescue and Community Safety Service. They provide assistance for financial and procurement activity, database maintenance and monitoring, data input, computer account amendments/access permissions, procurement and set up of mobile phones, pagers, batteries, telephony faults/queries, meetings, diary management, post, stationery, facilities management and PFI monitoring.

  • Workforce Development 

    This team provides service employee’s with a range of training and opportunities to further develop skills.
