What We Do

We deliver a range of services to increase the resilience of communities across Cornwall by working in partnership with local groups and our colleagues from Devon and Cornwall Police and South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. We each plan for emergencies and how to respond to them.

We provide Cornwall Fire and Rescue Services and work with local partners to identify emergency risks, plan for emergency scenarios and respond rapidly and effectively when emergencies occur. We also support our communities with advice to help them prevent or cope with unsafe situations including advice on road safety, tackling anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse and sexual violence and provide resilience services, such as the Crime and Disorder Reduction team. We are driving forward the Council’s devolution and localism ambitions through a close relationship with town and parish councils and a strong community network area infrastructure.  We deliver the Council’s localism function, ensuring that we work with partners to make Cornwall safer, through the targeted delivery of services to people and places most at risk.

Community Safety and Localism

Cornwall Fire and Rescue and Community Safety deliver services to address priority areas such as domestic abuse and sexual violence and alcohol related harm. In addition we recognise key focus areas including drug-related harm and promoting recovery, anti-social behaviour and reoffending. We also have statutory responsibilities including preventing violent extremism, tackling serious and organised crime and road safety and fire prevention.
