Employers Liability (EL)

Employer's liability insurance provides indemnity to the Council and School Governors in respect of all sums which they shall be legally liable to pay for injury or disease suffered by an employee as a result of their employment activities.

  • The limit of liability for any one incident is £50million.
  • There is no geographical restriction on the policy.

*Note to anyone who receives a formal letter of claim from a firm of solicitors*

If any Council employee or school governor receives a formal letter of claim from a firm of solicitors who wish to pursue a claim against the Council please forward onto Adam Williams, Senior Risk and Insurance Officer, Room 18, Dalvenie House, New County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, Cornwall, TR1 3AY immediately.

Do not respond to the solicitors as the insurance team will deal with the claim in compliance with legal protocols.

Important: There is no standard claim form for this policy. If anyone wishes to make a claim they must do so in writing and send to Jonathan Niblett, Senior Risk and Insurance Officer, 2nd Floor, South Wing, New County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY outlining as much detail as possible stating the reasons why the claim is being made.
