Chimney Fires in Cornwall
Already this Autumn, Cornwall County Fire Brigade has been to a number of chimney fires. Last year the Brigade were called 243 Chimney Fires. A recent incident has also highlighted the dangers of a blocked central heating flue where an elderly couple suffered from the effects of carbon Monoxide poisoning. This can happen with any fossil fuel system (which includes both the appliance and the flue) is faulty or the room is not properly ventilated.
If your home has a working chimney, take extra precautions before lighting it this winter by having a look at our pages on Chimney Fires and Carbon Monoxide.
