Charlotte Chadwick

Charlotte Chadwick - Community Network Manager

Born in Cheshire, Charlotte graduated in Business and Finance, and has a Postgraduate in Management.  She has worked in the private, public and charitable sector all her working life.  During her studies, she was a keen member of a Young Enterprise team, setting up a business with fellow students.  She won a national award for this work and ever since, has been passionate about developing the enterprise skills of young people.  She is Chair of the Cornwall Young Enterprise board.

She moved to the public sector in 1990, at the inception of the Training and Enterprise Council's (TECs) and headed up the Information, Research and Evaluation service at the TEC in Cheshire.  She worked there for five years, during which time she gained a Diploma in Labour Market analysis (part time at the Institute for Employment Research at the University of Warwick), chaired the Mid-Cheshire board of Young Enterprise and established the South and East Cheshire Investors in People club for local businesses.

She then worked for seven years, with Young Enterprise (a national educational charity), as the regional Development Manager for the North West of England, working in the urban conurbations of Greater Manchester, namely Wigan, Bolton, Bury, Rochdale and Oldham.  This role involved significant corporate fund-raising and she managed a major ESF project to engage with disadvantaged communities.  During this time, she gained a Certificate in Enterprise Skills, from Stirling University, via distance learning.   Charlotte is also a graduate of the Greater Manchester Common Purpose programme.

She then became Director of the Education Business Partnership in Lancashire, which enabled her to lead a diverse range of education-business projects, funded by a range of SRB partnerships.  She also chaired the North West regional EBP network.  She was an active member of the Bury Local Strategic Partnership and managed a range of transnational projects which brought benefits to both young people and local businesses.

Since childhood, Charlotte's dream was to relocate to Cornwall, which was realised in 2003. Initially Charlotte worked on a short term Objective One funded project with Cornwall County Council as Director of a festival, before joining Penwith District Council's Economic Development team.  For the past five years, she has worked as Penwith’s Employment and Enterprise Officer, involving her in economic development, business liaison, inward investment, event management and nurturing business development and enterprise for the local economy.  She is also a member of the Institute of Economic Development.

She is also Chair of the Cornwall School for Social Entrepreneurs (SSE).  This was founded by Lord Young who set up the Open University and is an amazing model of how to nurture social entrepreneurs at a community level.

Charlotte is the Community Network Manager for Helston and The Lizard and the Falmouth and Penryn Community Network, and is working closely to support elected members, Town and Parish Councils, local community organisations and partner such as the health service and the Police to make a difference to the communities across Helston and the Lizard.  She would be keen to hear from any individual or organisation who is working in the locality, in order to see how she and the team may help support local needs and community development.
